Hasegawa Cutlery, based in Seki City, Gifu—known as a center of blade-making—is a manufacturer of scissors and small cutting tools such as cutters and craft knives. Founded in 1933, the company produces tools for household and office use as well as products featuring easy-to-use mechanisms and practical ideas for handicrafts and craft applications.
This paper knife is crafted in Seki City, a traditional hub of Japanese blade-making. Skilled artisans carefully forge each knife, creating a blade shape reminiscent of the swords used by samurai. The steel used for the blade will naturally develop rust over time, giving the metal character and a unique patina. You can enjoy the natural aging process as a part of its charm.
The simple and elegant box makes it a perfect gift.

Location
Seki / Seki City
Seki City is located in Gifu Prefecture, near the center of Japan. During the medieval era, when samurai thrived, the city was home to many swordsmiths. The area’s high-quality water, materials, and transportation supported forging and polishing. Today, the tradition continues with the production of kitchen knives, scissors, and other everyday blades. Modern industrialization and specialization have kept Seki as one of Japan’s top blade-making regions, where skilled artisans and companies still gather.
