Kuretake is a Japanese manufacturer of calligraphy and writing instruments, founded in 1902 in Nara as a producer of traditional sumi ink. Utilizing its ink-making expertise, the company developed products such as liquid ink, brush pens, and markers. It holds a top-class share of the brush pen market in Japan. Today, centered on the value of handwriting, Kuretake has expanded into the art and craft field as well as overseas markets.

Kuretake’s Mannen Mouhitsu fountain brush pen series transforms the expressive qualities of traditional brush writing into an everyday writing instrument.
While preserving the variation and rhythm unique to brush lettering, the cartridge ink system and replaceable brush tip allow users to enjoy a stable, consistent writing experience over time.

This standard model features a polyester fiber brush tip.
The tip holds its shape well and offers stable control, making it easy to create stroke endings, flicks, and sweeping lines with precision.
Despite its affordable price, it uses replaceable ink cartridges and allows the brush tip to be replaced for continued use.
Portable and easy to handle, it is well suited for everyday writing and practice.

Important Notes

- Keep out of reach of small children.
- Do not use for purposes other than writing,
- Always close the cap tightly after use.
- Repeatedly removing and reinserting a used ink cartridge or subjecting it to strong impact may cause ink leakage.
- Ink stains on clothing may not be removable; handle with care.
- Do not store in direct sunlight or high-temperature locations.
- When writing, do not post the cap on the end of the barrel; this allows for a more comfortable brush writing feel.
- If the brush tip dries out and ink flow becomes poor, remove the cartridge and soak the tip section (nib unit) in water or lukewarm water, changing the water several times until the ink color fades. After rinsing, thoroughly remove moisture from inside the tip.
- Use only the recommended ink. Other inks may cause clogging or poor ink flow.
