Precious Wood Ash Burl Thick Urushi-Finished Pen

ALTE STYLE is the stationery division of ALTE MEISTER, a manufacturer of Buddhist altars and ritual objects. Founded in 1900, ALTE MEISTER has technical expertise in traditional crafts such as woodworking and lacquerware. Utilizing these techniques, ALTE STYLE develops and produces stationery with material texture derived from these craft methods.

This is a popular model from a ballpoint pen series made with fine woods. The wood used, Ash (Tamo), has a beautiful, striking grain that stands out. Its bright color brings a sense of light to your desk. The Tamo burl used in this pen features rare, pearl-like spots that change appearance when they catch the light. Each pattern is unique and cannot be artificially reproduced, and the pattern wraps around the curved surface of the pen, adding depth and a distinctive character to each piece.

The pen barrel is carved and polished, then coated with applied lacquer to enhance its shine. The lacquer is a precious Japanese product sourced from the brand’s home region in Aizu, Fukushima.

A single-pen tray is included, made from horse chestnut (Tochi) wood.
