Seki City in Gifu Prefecture boasts a history of over 800 years as one of Japan's leading cutlery production areas. Kitasho Co., Ltd. has been manufacturing and selling traditional cutlery in this region since its founding in 1948.
"Seki Kanetsune" is Kitasho's cutlery brand that pursues practicality and beauty while cherishing the techniques and spirit inherited by Seki craftsmen.
The brand name originates from "Kanetsune," a swordsmith who was active in Mino Province during the Muromachi period.
They manufacture kitchen knives and outdoor knives that inherit the spirit of Japanese swords and traditional forging techniques.

This knife is a masterpiece that has been loved for a quarter of a century. It's a Japanese-made folding knife based on a traditional back-lock knife once known as the "Back-Lock Itto" in Seki City.
Seki City once had many factories manufacturing knives for overseas markets and even doing OEM production for global brands, but now only a few remain.
The Kaikoto model inherits the atmosphere and structure of knife making from that era.
"KAICO" means "nostalgic" in English.

The blade is made of AUS-8 stainless steel, which is excellent in corrosion resistance and ease of handling. The blade shape is a "drop point," where the back of the blade gently slopes downwards towards the tip.
The handle is made of laminated reinforced wood, and combined with a metal liner (the frame that holds and supports the blade), it has a classic appearance and a solid weight.

The "back-lock mechanism," where the internal parts of the handle automatically interlock when the blade is opened, prevents the blade from closing unintentionally during use, ensuring stable blade retention.
The handle comes in three colors: black, off-white, and red.

It comes in a special paulownia wood box, making it suitable not only for practical use but also for collection and as a gift.
