Seki City in Gifu Prefecture boasts a history of over 800 years as one of Japan's leading cutlery production areas. Kitasho Co., Ltd. has been manufacturing and selling traditional cutlery in this region since its founding in 1948.

"Seki Kanetsune" is Kitasho's cutlery brand that pursues practicality and beauty while cherishing the techniques and spirit inherited by Seki craftsmen.

The brand name originates from "Kanetsune," a swordsmith who was active in Mino Province during the Muromachi period.

They manufacture kitchen knives and outdoor knives that inherit the spirit of Japanese swords and traditional forging techniques.

This Japanese-made folding knife is designed with the "tanzaku," a traditional Japanese strip of paper or metal strip that has long been considered a symbol of good fortune in Japanese culture, as its motif.

"Tanzaku" in Japanese refers to a rectangular piece of metal or paper.

In Japan, people often write their goals, wishes, and dreams on tanzaku.

Also, craftsmen who work on the metalwork of Japanese swords engrave their names on metal tanzaku to leave their mark on posterity.

Therefore, tanzaku are known as one of the auspicious items in Japan.

The blade of this knife is made of AUS-8 stainless steel, which offers an excellent balance of sharpness and corrosion resistance.

The sharp, straight blade shape is suitable for sharpening pencils and detailed woodworking.

When the blade is opened, a metal plate (liner) inside the handle slides to the center, supporting the base of the blade and preventing it from accidentally closing. This "liner lock mechanism" securely fixes the blade in place.

The clip, convenient for carrying, can be repositioned. There are two models available: one with a brass handle and another with a stainless steel handle.
Both feature a beautiful hairline finish, possessing the substantial weight and texture characteristic of metal, and fitting comfortably in the hand.
Comes in a dedicated paulownia wood box, making it ideal not only for practical use but also as a collector's item or gift.

Variations
- KB-561 (Brass Handle)
The handle is made of brass, the same material used in the metalwork of Japanese swords. The subdued golden shine deepens in color with use, developing a unique patina. It can also be restored to its original shine with careful polishing.

- KB-562 (Stainless Steel Handle)
Based on the original brass model, this model features a stainless steel handle. The all-stainless steel monochrome color scheme gives it a sharp and modern impression.
